SINGLE Review: 'The Smell of Souchong' - CHILDCARE

CHILDCARE have released latest single, 'The Smell of Souchong' and it is as unique, quirky and brilliant as ever.

CHILDCARE are named so because frontman Ed, who formed the band, was once a male nanny and not any old nanny, of West London's most in-demand male nannies. Emma Topolski (bass/vocals), Rich Le Gate (guitar) and David Dyson (drums) complete the group.

'The Smell of Souchong' sees the band continue their 'Get Well Soon' mission. They recently held mindfulness sessions for fans over the summer, and meditated so hard at their own album launch party that they didn't realise that candles had set the venue on fire! Luckily the fire was put out swiftly and no one was hurt. (Never leave candles unsupervised guys.)

The track itself is fun, fast-paced and details the feelings of growing up ("I've got two debit cards in my wallet").

“The process of making the album has been a process of growth for all of us and I’ve realised that some of my priorities have changed - the smoky smell of lapsang souchong tea in the morning is now of paramount importance” - Ed

They're on The Wabi Tour at the moment, so make sure you catch them. They're also playing their biggest headline show to date at Scala in December.
