This post was actually planned for January but has ended up being very late, so instead I thought I would write a ‘Year in Review’ and a little update on what I have been up to, too. Keep reading if you would like to know more.
I like doing these. It is a nice little way for me to reflect on the year and look forward to the future. I didn’t write one in 2016, because I was ill, but I am glad I can do one now.
Be warned-it’s going to be a long post! I hope you enjoy!
This was definitely the year of Bastille, for me. By the end of the year, I had seen them live at least 10 times. I was lucky enough to see them perform at venues such as the Eden Project in Cornwall and Reading Festival, as well as the Zenith Arena in Paris. I recently saw them on their ‘ReOrchestrated’ tour at the Royal Albert Hall and it was a phenomenal gig. ‘To Kill A King’ and Charlie Barnes supported and Ella Eyre joined the boys on stage for ‘No Angels.’ They definitely shaped my 2017 and I am thankful to them for all the good times, and good people I met, along the way. It is safe to say I am planning to go to more gigs this year and I cannot wait!

As I mentioned, I travelled to Paris in February to see my favourite band play. It was the first time I had been to France and I absolutely adored it.

This was the year I went back to university after some time away. It was properly nerve-wracking going back but also something I really wanted to do, and so far it’s going really well. I study Biological Sciences, in case you are wondering.
The obsession is still very much real. I love skincare and makeup and, back in January, I took classes makeup artistry classes. It’s funny how nervous I was. My hands would shake when applying makeup on others, but I passed the course and got my certificate. I would love to go back and do the more advanced course one day.
One of the biggest highlights of my year had been, and continues to be, my friends and family. I am going to be super soppy now but they really are the best; 100% there for me when I need them and I hope they know it goes both ways. My oldest friend actually went volunteering abroad for 3 months towards the end of 2017 and she was very much missed! She’s back now, which I am very happy about. Another friend got married this March and that was so lovely to be a part of.

Over the summer, I started volunteering in a charity shop which was actually set up like a designer boutique. I worked as a retail assistant and I really enjoyed it. I hope to do more volunteering this summer.
Blogging is still my passion and I have been contributing to other websites and magazines, including my university magazine. I have so many ideas but sometimes it takes me a little while to upload posts, which I need to work on. I hope to continue blogging about the things I love. I have been to some really cool beauty-related events lately and also have some awesome gigs planned, so I will share my experiences on here. I also hope to do some posts on others bloggers I really admire. Keep an eye out for those!
2017 was a fantastic year and 2018 has been equally good so far. I am looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year brings.
What were your 2017 highlights?
Thank you so, so much for reading!
